On their grand anniversary tour, they not only bring decades of musical history but also a new musical director. Alexander Wurz leads the Egerländer tradition into the future with a fresh sound and his own signature. And even though the "Original Egerländer Musikanten" constantly reinvent themselves - the orchestra stands like few others for lived musical continuity, craftsmanship precision, and brass music at the highest level.
Since its founding by Ernst Mosch in 1956, the "Original Egerländer Musikanten" have made a name for themselves worldwide. Mosch shaped the typical, emotional, and at the same time swinging sound. Ernst Hutter led the orchestra for the last 25 years with his own arrangements and a new generation of soloists into the 21st century and paved the way for the current enthusiasm for brass music palpable in all generations with "his Egerländer," his persistence, and his visions. Now, with Alexander Wurz, the next step follows: The 39-year-old tenor horn player and conductor, who has been part of the orchestra for 15 years, was selected by Ernst Hutter as his successor. With him, the ensemble remains true to its line – while simultaneously being fully present in the here and now.
Wurz does what Mosch and Hutter did before him: to further develop the orchestra with a sense of tradition, set new impulses - and carry the music with passion into the future.
