The sensational feel-good musical MAMMA MIA! will be visiting Munich, Vienna, Stuttgart, and Berlin in November and December of 2024, and in Bremen and Frankfurt in January of the following year.
From the West End to a global phenomenon! MAMMA MIA! is Judy Craymer's brilliant interpretation of timeless ABBA songs, in the form of a lighthearted and humorous story about a mother, a daughter, and three potential fathers on an idyllic Greek island.
The performances in Germany and Austria are celebrating the 25th anniversary of MAMMA MIA! since its premiere in London in April 1999. To this day, MAMMA MIA! remains the third longest-running musical in London's West End with over 10 million audience members. MAMMA MIA! has been seen by more than 65 million people in 50 productions and in 16 different languages. In 2011, MAMMA MIA! became the first musical from the Western Hemisphere to be performed in Mandarin in the People's Republic of China. MAMMA MIA! has become the eighth longest-running show in Broadway history, running for a record-breaking 14 years.
Since its premiere in London's West End, the most spectacular and entertaining musical in the world has been given new life through two very successful film adaptations. The 2008 film produced by Judy Craymer became the most successful musical of all time upon its release, and the second film, MAMMA MIA! HERE WE GO AGAIN from 2018, is the most successful live musical film sequel of all time.
The music and lyrics of MAMMA MIA! are by Benny Andersson & Björn Ulvaeus. The book was written by Catherine Johnson, directed by Phyllida Lloyd, and choreographed by Anthony Van Laast. The production was conceived by Mark Thompson, with lighting design by Howard Harrison, sound design by Andrew Bruce & Bobby Aitken, and musical supervision, additional material, and arrangements by Martin Koch.
