A phenomenon returns: New production of Andrew Lloyd Webber's THE PHANTOM OF THE OPERA
Following the great success of CATS, the Vereinigte Bühnen Wien presents one of the most famous musicals of all time - Andrew Lloyd Webber's THE PHANTOM OF THE OPERA - back to Vienna. Artistic Director Christian Struppeck is bringing Cameron Mackintosh's spectacular new production of Andrew Lloyd Webber's THE PHANTOM OF THE OPERA, which has never been seen in the German-speaking world, to the Raimund Theater from spring 2024.

The brand-new staging of the world-famous masterpiece has already been sold out in Great Britain, the USA, and Australia, where it was recently seen at the prestigious Sydney Opera House. The Austrian premiere will take place on March 15, 2024.

The Advent concert of the Vienna Symphony Orchestra has long been a popular highlight of the pre-Christmas season: music and reflection in the landmark of Vienna. This year, the program in the atmospheric St. Stephen's Cathedral once again takes us through the different Christmas cultures of various countries and continents. In addition to the French L’Arlésienne Suite by Georges Bizet, parts of Mozart's Trinity Mass will be performed, as well as popular melodies from Engelbert Humperdinck's fairy-tale opera Hansel and Gretel, a cantata from Felix Mendelssohn Bartholdy's "Lobgesang," a song by Keith Chapman, and the Christmas classic Somewhere in my Memory from the soundtrack Kevin – Home Alone by John Williams. The crowning conclusion is, as every year, the Christmas carol O du fröhliche.


The Vienna Symphony Orchestra will be conducted by the French conductor Stéphane Denève at this concert. The soloists are Italian soprano Rosa Feola and American mezzo-soprano Kate Lindsey. The Advent concert of the Vienna Symphony Orchestra offers contemplation and inwardness during the Vienna pre-Christmas season.

Since 1977, mastermind Erik Trauner has been driving the band forward, with unwavering soulfulness and dedication, and with every spark of energy available to him. Erik Trauner and the Mojo Blues Band are surely aware that their musical blend of Chicago Blues with R&B and Country Blues has led to a style that has granted them a special position in the international blues circuit. However, resting on their laurels is not their way. They constantly shine light on new facets and are always striving to ensure that performances do not become routine.

«Tutto nel mondo è burla», everything in the world is a cruel joke. The punchline comes at the expense of the human being. The main thing is that in the end, one has laughed!

Giuseppe Verdi is known as a master of tragic feelings. Yet, the composer always wanted to write a funny opera. In Shakespeare's sardonic, gluttonous drunkard and bon vivant Falstaff, he finally found, at the end of his life, the suitable hero. He sends the same love letter twice. It doesn't occur to the down-on-his-luck knight that the friendly ladies might talk to each other. Thus, he sets a furious revenge machinery in motion, which leads the offended women against him. A jealous husband, a playful servant, and a young couple also interfere. In the end, everyone is the butt of the joke, some more than others, and old men mostly.

Melancholically smiling, the 90-year-old Verdi looks at the ever youthful life in his last opera, the youth, which repeats itself like the moon in always new faces, in always different human lives, as time passes to release us all as mortals.

The young director Tobias Ribitzki makes his directorial debut at the Tiroler Landestheater with this great masterpiece of Italian opera and leads the in-house ensemble through a turbulent evening full of cheerful entanglements and deep poetry.

It's not a comeback. Tagtraeumer simply continue where they left off four and a half years ago. Officially, they never split up, the band was just put on hold. But now that ice has melted. The band is hot again. Writing songs, producing music, shooting videos, giving interviews, rehearsing live shows, making tour plans, having fun.

The Early Years

The roots of black gospel and spirituals date back to the early 18th century. Back then, African slaves developed their first English hymns in the foreign land of America. At that time, they still held their inherent moral beliefs and religious convictions.

The Ensemble's Story

For almost twenty years, we have traveled across the USA to proclaim the good news in churches and theaters. During this time, I had the privilege of experiencing some of the best gospel singers America has to offer. Wherever my travels took me, I always kept my ears open.

It was then in my own community in Harlem that the dream was born to bring together some of the best American gospel singers as a group, so they could share their spiritual fire with brothers and sisters in Europe. Thanks to the help of our producers and organizers, we can now live this dream.

Whenever the singers of the ensemble "The Christmas Gospel" raise their crystal-clear voices to the highest registers at the beginning and end of the concert, a shiver regularly runs through the audience. That is the spirit of gospel - a commonly heard opinion of the performance by "The Christmas Gospel."

But the gospel classics such as "Oh Happy Day," Amazing Grace, and "When the Saint" are naturally part of the ensemble's repertoire, which impresses mainly through the balance of female and male voices.

Gospel - classical and modern soul ballads - emotion and temperament come together here to create a fascinating experience. The different experiences that The Christmas Gospel gathered on stage, as well as their well-known knack for selecting their singers, lead us to expect sold-out churches and concert halls during the upcoming The Christmas Gospel tour in Germany and Austria after over 500 concerts from 2018 to 2023.

It is a concert - but the atmosphere of the famous services of Black Churches makes the audience on the big Austria tour in 2023 become a part of the "community." It is the cheerful contemplativeness that makes these Christmas Gospel concerts an extraordinary event.

The sensational feel-good musical MAMMA MIA! will be visiting Munich, Vienna, Stuttgart, and Berlin in November and December of 2024, and in Bremen and Frankfurt in January of the following year.

From the West End to a global phenomenon! MAMMA MIA! is Judy Craymer's brilliant interpretation of timeless ABBA songs, in the form of a lighthearted and humorous story about a mother, a daughter, and three potential fathers on an idyllic Greek island.

The performances in Germany and Austria are celebrating the 25th anniversary of MAMMA MIA! since its premiere in London in April 1999. To this day, MAMMA MIA! remains the third longest-running musical in London's West End with over 10 million audience members. MAMMA MIA! has been seen by more than 65 million people in 50 productions and in 16 different languages. In 2011, MAMMA MIA! became the first musical from the Western Hemisphere to be performed in Mandarin in the People's Republic of China. MAMMA MIA! has become the eighth longest-running show in Broadway history, running for a record-breaking 14 years.

Since its premiere in London's West End, the most spectacular and entertaining musical in the world has been given new life through two very successful film adaptations. The 2008 film produced by Judy Craymer became the most successful musical of all time upon its release, and the second film, MAMMA MIA! HERE WE GO AGAIN from 2018, is the most successful live musical film sequel of all time.

The music and lyrics of MAMMA MIA! are by Benny Andersson & Björn Ulvaeus. The book was written by Catherine Johnson, directed by Phyllida Lloyd, and choreographed by Anthony Van Laast. The production was conceived by Mark Thompson, with lighting design by Howard Harrison, sound design by Andrew Bruce & Bobby Aitken, and musical supervision, additional material, and arrangements by Martin Koch.
