MONTI BETON feels at home in several musical genres, and they all have at least one thing in common: They are appreciated and, above all, listened to by the congenial leadership duo of the band Thomas Schreiber and Toni Matosic. The latest program of the band, which has been particularly active this year, focuses on "Country Music" originating in the USA.

A plethora of classics by legendary artists from at least six (!) decades can be found on the evening's setlist. Acoustic encounters with the music of Johnny Cash, Hank Williams, Willie Nelson, Glen Campbell, and Kris Kristofferson are to be expected, as well as a colorful array of great artists and their songs from the "Country" genre from the second half of the previous century into the present day. For more than 40 years, Roland Batik has been accompanying us as a classical pianist with countless live concerts, interpreting compositions by Bach, Haydn, Mozart, and Beethoven. Like his former teacher Friedrich Gulda, the keyboard virtuoso has been acting as a bridge between the genres of classical and jazz for decades, exploring the field in various ways.

In the summer of 2023, the Roland Batik Trio has developed a brand new program titled "New Aspects", maintaining its tonal and melodic character in style, but with many new and exciting aspects. For decades, the jazz formation led by pianist and composer Roland Batik has been one of the leading trios nationally and internationally.

With his congenial fellow musicians Heinrich Werkl (double bass) and Walter Grassmann (drums), Batik interprets classics from other composers as well as his own compositions with a sense of groove and highly developed classical style. The trio, in existence for decades, functions with equal collaboration, creating high tension, lyrical relaxation, and cool grooves with unwavering certainty.

Marianne Mendt + Quartet



From a very young age, Marianne Mendt knew that she wanted to become a singer. She received piano and singing lessons at the Conservatory of the City of Vienna, but she also attended business school at her parents' request. However, it was clear that she had to follow her calling, music.

As soon as she turned 18, she passed the exam to become a “union-certified performing artist” and toured Europe in the following years with her band “The Internationals” as a singer and bassist.
In Zwettl, Marianne Mendt will perform with her quartet – her big hits like “Wie a Glock’n” and many, many others will also be heard.

The young Lower Bavarian cabaret artist Martin Frank shot up like a rocket into the cabaret sky and orbits there as a comet through satire. ... What he sees there, he summarized in the title of his third solo program, which will premiere in the fall of 2020.

You want to know what my new cabaret program is about? I have to disappoint you. I can't tell you today what act I will perform tomorrow. Maybe today I'll gossip about milk alternatives and tomorrow I'll be diagnosed with lactose intolerance. Maybe today I'll make fun of gendering and tomorrow I'll feel like a hydrangea in the body of an orchid. Maybe today I'll publicly stick myself on the federal highway and tomorrow I'll go on a private cruise through the Mediterranean Sea with my mom.

But I should issue a trigger warning just in case. Because something in this program will surely hurt feelings. Whether it's my absurd observations from everyday life, presented in my rural-rustic style or the one Italian aria that reminds you of your forceps delivery.

If you ask me, cabaret and comedy are more like a personal preference. Either you can stand me and we'll have a nice evening together, or you can't stand me and send me your mother-in-law. Turning it around or not: It's probably because of me!

Martin Frank or Frank Martin?

Whether on television or live on stage, the young man who goes by the name Martin is now an indispensable part of the Bavarian cabaret scene. Born in 1992 as a summer child in the midst of barn work in Lower Bavaria, he was early influenced by the tension between art and the cowshed, which smoothly transitioned into commuting between countryside and city.

Martin is a cabaret artist, author, actor, and a rejected voice student from all music conservatories. He has been awarded, among others, the Bavarian Cabaret Award (2018), the Prix Pantheon in Bonn (2019), and the Grand Cabaret Award in Berlin (2019). From the fall of 2023, Martin Frank will tour the German-speaking area with his currently fourth cabaret program "It's probably because of me."

To top it off, uninvited guests populate the artist's dressing room. The mayor, and other intruders, create chaotic conditions in the backstage area. The only thing quiet in the room is the water. Before it tears Walter apart, he hangs his thin nerves on the hook and throws on his thick skin. Experience Walter Kammerhofer in this funny, chaotic, and desperate backstage experience, see him as God (did not) create him, but rather fast food and a reluctance to move. All that's left for the audience and Walter is to hope: Already Knew!

Wanjo Banjo connects the Appalachians with the Waldviertel through their music. The range extends from traditional folk and hillbilly of the American hinterland to blues and Viennese songs...

There are many parallels between the Appalachians and the local Waldviertel region. The instrumentation with the eponymous banjo, mandolin, guitar, and double bass already recalls the music of the US region. Markus Mayerhofer, Wolfgang Schöbitz, and Florian Weiß also have the corresponding Appalachian groove. They infuse dialect-translated US traditionals as well as their own texts with it.




Contemporary folk music, whether from abroad or of their own making, can also be found among the Waldviertel musicians. The original homeland always remains perceptible. Often, melancholy seeps through the songs like mist over the hills of the Waldviertel, occasionally touching upon those morbid depths known from H.C. Artmann's "schwoazza dintn." But as one song says, "D’Vogal singan hölla im Finsdan."

The new project by Maria Ma, Ulli Bäer, and Christian Einheller: A reinterpretation of Georg Danzer's legendary songs in a unique implementation.

The new album of the trio "Es woa schee" was released in the autumn of 2021 and was dedicated to Georg Danzer on his 75th birthday on October 7, 2021. Just as magnificent as the project itself, in which Danzer's companion Ulli Bäer brings a lot of authenticity, is the distinctive instrumentation of the trio. Both the three musicians of the trio and their producer Clemens Nowak have been closely associated with Austrian songwriters through their sometimes years-long collaborations with artists such as Georg Danzer, Gert Steinbäcker, Schiffkowitz, Rainhard Fendrich, Wolfgang Ambros, Christian Kolonovits, Seiler & Speer, Ina Regen, and many others.

After the extremely successful first three Zwettler Wohnzimmer events, our "Zwettler Wohnzimmer" will open its doors for the fourth time on Saturday, June 15, at the Stadtsaal.

This time, Zwettler journalist & theater professional EVI LEUTGEB will be our guest and will answer questions from moderator TOM WEISS - we will introduce our second guest to you here shortly.

Of course, our "living room band" will also be back - Alex Tod, Edwin Kainz, and Florian Weiß will play some favorite songs of the guests. And there will also be one or two surprises.
