CONNECTIONS
Two musicians, four centuries: Andrey Roszyk and Yulia Zakharkina lead the audience through a night of contrasts and echoes — from the solitary voice of a Baroque master to the fiery colors of Romanian folk tradition.
Ysaÿe's Ballade opens with the violin alone, poised between shadow and flame. Debussy's Images unfolds a world of light and water, while Lembit Beecher's Still Life with Fallen Stone casts a contemporary echo across the same terrain. Grieg's Third Violin Sonata answers with Nordic passion and closes the first half.
After the interval, Bach's monumental Chaconne stands alone at the center of the program, framed by Enescu's folk-inflected Ménétrier and his rarely heard Third Violin Sonata "dans le caractère populaire roumain." Ravel's virtuosic Tzigane brings the evening to its fulminant close.
A summer chamber music evening in Salzburg for lovers of violin and piano.
