Following the sensational success of previous years, "JESUS CHRIST SUPERSTAR - The Rock Concert" returns for Easter 2027 in a spectacular arena tour - culminating in a grand finale at the large Vienna Stadthalle, including audience participation!
The revival of a dream team is back: Drew Sarich as Jesus and Serkan Kaya as Judas will again share the stage. Accompanied by a high-caliber live band and a fantastic ensemble, the legendary rock opera by Andrew Lloyd Webber and Tim Rice will be transformed into a spectacular live rock concert.
Lukas Perman presents the musical classic in his modern, captivating staged production as a major concert event of star power extra class! Songs like Gethsemane, I Don't Know How to Love Him, or Heaven on Their Minds, among many others, will be celebrated by the performers together with the audience.
The selected stops of the arena tour will take place in 2027 from the Dreiländerhalle Passau to the Grazer Stadthalle and finally to the grand finale at the Wiener Stadthalle, Hall D. In Austria's largest indoor venue, the audience can look forward to a huge Easter closing concert with an interactive mass ensemble!

JESUS CHRIST SUPERSTAR - The Rock Concert breaks the classical boundaries between stage and audience: At the grand finale in the Wiener Stadthalle, the audience itself becomes part of the story: Selected viewers will become the people surrounding the story of Jesus and will experience the show not only from the audience but are right in the midst of the action as part of the performance!
Participants will be professionally prepared in specially designed workshops for selected mass scenes and will have the unique opportunity to actively shape the story together with the stars.
A unique event that combines musical and rock into a one-of-a-kind live experience - of course with a video wall, so that everyone is right there, even in the last row!
Star cast 2027 - The revival of a dream team
Drew Sarich & Serkan Kaya
The title role of Jesus in this staged concert performance is played by the acclaimed Jesus interpreter Drew Sarich. The American has been based in Vienna for many years and is internationally known for numerous leading roles in the German-speaking world (Hair, Tanz der Vampire, Rudolf, etc.) as well as a West End and Broadway star.
The role of the antagonist Judas is interpreted by musical and TV star Serkan Kaya.
He is well remembered by the Viennese audience as the legendary Lucheni in Elisabeth, as Galileo in We Will Rock You, and from earlier concert performances of Jesus Christ Superstar as Judas. In recent years he has emerged as an actor and TV star in German television and has received multiple awards, including the Grimme Prize and the German Acting Award 2021.
Marjan Shaki as Mary Magdalene
Mary Magdalene is portrayed by actress and singer Marjan Shaki. For 20 years she has been in leading roles on Vienna's grand musical stages (including "Romeo & Julia," "Tanz der Vampire," "Evita") and is known to a wide audience through her participation in Dancing Stars (ORF). Her subtle portrayal of "Mary Magdalene" is characterized by a touching mix of strength and fragility.
Pontius Pilate: James Park in Passau & Graz - Thomas Borchert in Vienna
Pontius Pilate will be played by the leading tenor James Park in Passau and Graz. He has performed in numerous pieces, including at the Vereinigte Bühnen Wien and the Wiener Volksoper. Additionally, he is known to a wide audience from the ORF show "Die große Chance - Let’s Sing and Dance," where he reached the final in 2024.
Thomas Borchert is one of the most prominent musical stars in the German-speaking area. In Vienna, he has been seen over the last two decades in many classics including Elisabeth, Tanz der Vampire, Jekyll & Hyde, or Mozart!. He is also very successful with numerous solo programs.
With Georgij Makazaria in the role of Herod, a showstopper is guaranteed. He has proven his quality as a unique entertainer in thousands of performances and will once again make the large Wiener Stadthalle shake in 2027!
Also, the other roles are filled with outstanding singers from the Austrian musical theater scene, including Vincent Bueno - known as the winner of the ORF show "Musical! Die Show 2008" and Eurovision Song Contest participant 2020 - in the role of Simon.
The musical direction is in the expert hands of Christian Frank. He has established himself as an outstanding expert in the genre in Vienna for many years. The 11-member band consists of selected professionals and guarantees musical excellence.
