The Requiem KV 626 by W. A. Mozart is one of his most famous works and is steeped in legend, being the last composed by him and remaining unfinished. Of numerous attempts to complete it, the one by F. X. Süßmayr is the most widely known. Constanze Mozart commissioned the completion after the death of Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart, as it was possibly a commissioned work by Count Walsegg from Lower Austria, who likely sent a messenger. It is certain that the Requiem occupied Mozart, who in his last year of life also worked on The Magic Flute and La Clemenza di Tito, until the final hours of his life. It has become one of the most brilliant and moving works in the history of humanity.
With a choir and soloists from the ranks of the boy and male singers, music is performed in a diverse manner, ranging from intimate small ensembles to large, powerful choirs. The bright sound of the boy's voices is accompanied by specialists in historical instruments from the Tyrolean orchestra Academia Jacobus Stainer, filling the dignified Baroque space of the Wiltener Basilica.
