The musicians come from the Mureck area and are excited to perform in front of an audience again. The band "Küks & Konsorten" plays Styrian songs with solid "character" and a slight "foolishness" found between Austropop, folk, and blues. Guitar, accordion, bass, and cajon are used.

VIVALDI: Vier Jahreszeiten Konzert

The Karlskirche in Vienna - "St. Karl Borromäus" - is considered the most important sacred building north of the Alps. It was constructed at the command of Emperor Charles VI starting in 1716 after the last great plague epidemic and was completed in 1737. In 1741, Antonio Vivaldi was buried directly at the Karlskirche.

Until 1918, it was an imperial patron church. Today, you can experience authentic concerts in the Karlskirche with the orchestra 1756 performing on original instruments and its soloists. Our traditional performances of Vivaldi's "4 Seasons" are now widely known for their high artistic competence and vibrant interpretation.

Wiener Mozart Konzert - Musikverein

The Vienna Mozart Orchestra performs concerts in Vienna with internationally renowned singers and soloists – all dressed in magnificent historical costumes and wigs – creating a unique atmosphere in Vienna's largest and most famous concert halls such as the Musikverein and the State Opera.

Especially the selection of works conveys the feeling of experiencing an authentic concert from the Baroque era.

In the style of “Musical Academies,” as concerts were called in Vienna during Mozart's time, the Wiener Mozart Konzert features individual movements from symphonies and solo concertos as well as overtures, arias, and duets from operas, each particularly beloved and well-known pieces that delight the audience.

With the performance of the most beautiful pieces of the Strauss dynasty, the Wiener Mozart Konzert also fulfills the wishes of Strauss lovers, as they are treated among others to the world-famous waltz “On the Beautiful Blue Danube” and the “Radetzky March.”

Josef Hader - Hader On Ice

"Always something going on. Either my feet fall asleep. Or they itch. Then I can't breathe and need to walk faster. Or I have a cold sweat. Then I'm freezing again. Food doesn't taste good anymore, sex is boring, pants are too tight. What on earth is going on? - Must be all this climate change, right? Temperatures in summer are like in the tropics! Suddenly these huge insects are appearing! They didn't exist before! If they sting you, you get a bump that won't go away for months! Probably all genetically modified. And the plants! They are getting dumb too. The plants are going crazy! They're growing over everything now! Since I stopped going out. My theory is, the plants want to take control of the planet back. They are all connected underground through their roots. Worldwide! The plants have a secret plan. They want the total destruction of Western culture and Austrian folk rock-n-roll. Everything should be replaced by uh photosynthesis."

Florian Scheuba - Schönen guten Abend

Democracy, economy, environment, hope for a better future - is everything going down the drain?

Florian Scheuba takes a seat on the shore in his Bachwatch mission and confronts rampant apocalyptic tendencies with the defiant construction of humor dams. Many questions arise for him:
Should the "Yes, of course little pig" become the Minister of Agriculture? Does Donald Trump have a "kitchen cupboard problem" - a crack in the bowl, a loose screw, not all cups in the cupboard? Do autocrats even need to pretend to be telling the truth when they lie? And does the principle apply to perpetually neutral Austria: "One says this, another says that, we say: So, so..."? Are we truly better off if others are worse off? Is an asshole electable if it's "our asshole"? Can you still say everywhere nowadays that you can't say anything anymore? And what is satire actually allowed to do?

Florian Scheuba counters the absurdities of the present with humor and proves that laughter is the best form of self-defense.

Berni Wagner - Monster

Dominion times! Berni Wagner is back. Once again doing slapstick with language. Verbal Jiu-Jitsu. Fine blade and so on, anyway - but it's all just self-defense, of course. Since he was told that there is also a monster lurking within him, Austria's favorite shaggy-haired comedian clings to his humor with tooth and claw. Only this way can he tame his fear long enough to set out on a quest for the monster: It must be somewhere in there - right?

Stephan Zinner - Der Teufel, das Mädchen, der Blues und Ich

Stephan Zinner "Der Teufel, das Mädchen, der Blues und ich" - Musical cabaret

Stephan Zinner has the blues. Which does not mean that he is downcast, no, quite the contrary. With the energy intrinsic to the blues, he embarks on a journey to the roots of the blues. And these roots do not lie, as many think, solely in the Mississippi Delta in the southern USA; no, they also lie in Trostberg in Upper Bavaria. Of course, there are no cotton fields there, but corn fields, and you don't meet the devil at the crossroads, but in the savings bank at the corner, and instead of bourbon, they drink Rüscherl, but the women will also drive you to despair there. The work is hard, the rich are rich, the poor are poor, and only the music can save you. So Zinner picks up the guitar and, with the support of a true tough guy named Peter Pichler, will howl the blues, preach the gospel, and dance until the devil himself becomes dizzy. Praise the Lord and rock on!

Chrissi Buchmasser is under pressure, right in the rush hour of her life. Priorities need to be set, decisions made, and the tracks for the future laid. And that now. Because she knows: At some point, the train will have left for all of us.

Morgenarbeit mit Musik

The morning exercise gives you an insight into the training work of the riders with their Lipizzaner horses. You will see both the training of the often still gray young stallions, as well as the already trained school stallions – our "white stars" – in the imperial ambiance of the baroque Winter Riding School, accompanied by classical Viennese music.

The gymnastics of the horses includes loosening exercises, refining and perfecting lessons, as well as targeted muscle strengthening. The famous school jumps, presented as part of the performances, are only sometimes seen during the morning exercise to spare the animals. Each stallion is trained according to his individual level of training, up to the High School lessons.

The Addams Family - Das Musical

The Addams Family - Das Musical Musical
by Marshall Brickman, Rick Elice, and Andrew Lippa, based on characters created by Charles Addams.

The Addams Family is back!
This time in a hauntingly beautiful musical comedy show. The Addams live in their dilapidated mansion near Central Park. The neighbors attribute to them a penchant for the macabre.
They are considered quirky, eccentric, and viewed by some as monsters. When their smallest family member, "the little cold hand," runs through the front yard or when they see the son of the house playing with his guillotine in the moonlight, passersby change sides of the street.
So far, none of the Addams have cared about the gossip, but suddenly the daughter Wednesday starts to feel ashamed of her family:
Wednesday is in love with Lucas, a completely "normal" boy.
She dreads the thought of Lucas meeting her family, but the encounter cannot be avoided.
Lucas' uptight mother is right there at the door to get an impression of the people her son associates with.
With a tense crossbow and an evil smile, the Addams greet their guests and try to be "perfectly normal" for their daughter's sake for one evening.

Benedikt Mitmannsgruber - 1996

Out of nowhere, Benedikt Mitmannsgruber has turned 30 overnight.
Surrounded by forests, cows, and farms, he reflects on the last years.

In the attic of his parents' house, he discovers a yellowing album containing a family tree.

For Benedikt Mitmannsgruber, this marks the beginning of a furious journey through his family's past and his own absurd everyday life.

The journey starts in the early 20th century in a small village on the Czech border. There, Benedikt Mitmannsgruber's great-grandparents decide to have 15 children. In the 1960s, Benedikt Mitmannsgruber's parents are born. They spend their childhood next to the Iron Curtain in the deepest Austrian province. No one really knows whether this little strip of land actually belongs to Czechia or Austria. In the 1990s, the curtain falls, and Benedikt Mitmannsgruber's parents decide to conceive a son. He is born into a world where he never quite fits in, but still loves, with all its quirky inhabitants and peculiarities.

A tribute to growing up in nowhere. A love letter to forgotten little towns. A journey into one's own past. A quirky look at our society and a world gone awry.

Benedikt Mitmannsgruber's third program "1996" is dedicated to his two parents and four grandparents, who shaped him into the Benedikt Mitmannsgruber he is today, despite a difficult upbringing at the end of the world with hardly any prospects!

Ermi-Oma - Selbstverstimmt leben

CABARET BY MARKUS HIRTLER
ALIAS ERMI-OMA

Markus Hirtler worked for more than 20 years as a nurse, nursing service manager, home director, and social manager. He created the character Ermi-Oma to raise his voice for the people who are not easily heard in our "age-disposal society."
The award-winning cabaret artist lovingly portrays the nursing home resident in a multifaceted and empathetic way.
"My goal is to promote understanding between generations and to spark a desire for a respectful coexistence." M.H.

SELF-ADMINISTERED LIVING
One can live self-administered and die self-determined, but certainly not inherit oneself.
Or can one?
By "coincidence," Ermi-Oma suddenly has a huge pile of money at her disposal. What to do? The audience gets to help decide.
A large-scale social study from Ermi-Oma's little treasure chest.

Circus Roncalli

The hands are moving backwards, the balloon is ready for take-off: Bernhard Paul's Circus Theater Roncalli is all set for the grand anniversary tour celebrating the 50th birthday of "Europe's most admired circus" (Herald Tribune Washington).

Opening a door to the future
The team around Bernhard Paul has prepared a true fireworks of ideas for the 50th anniversary. "The program should not be a best of or a poetically dreamy retrospective, but rather open a door to the future!", says the Roncalli founder and circus director. The beloved Roncalli flair and the courage for innovation will remain: "Strengthened by the experiences of the 50 years of the Roncalli idea, we are entering the anniversary tour with vigor and passion. - Get ready to be surprised!"

The Journey to the Rainbow
On May 18, 1976, Roncalli celebrated the world premiere of "The Greatest Poetry of the Universe" and toured through Austria. It performed in Vienna, Graz, and Salzburg, where the audience could experience the unique blend of theater, clowning, and dream world for the first time. But it was only the premiere of "The Journey to the Rainbow" on June 4, 1980, in Cologne that established the legendary success. Roncalli is a poetic counter-design to the circuses of that time. The native of Lower Austria, Bernhard Paul, is celebrated as a renewer of circus art. He focuses on the overall staging. In the following years, the circus expands, can hardly keep up with visitors, performs at the invitation of cultural offices and theater festivals, and travels as a cultural ambassador of the state of NRW to Moscow, Seville, Copenhagen, and New York. Today, Roncalli stands for much more than just a circus. The live entertainment company is admired and awarded worldwide for its extraordinary show concepts and experience worlds.

Roncalli's next generation
With its anniversary, Roncalli 2026 celebrates not only the life's work of its founder Bernhard Paul. The next generation, with Vivian, Adrian, and Lili Paul-Roncalli, is already in the starting blocks. The anniversary year will also be an opportunity for them to present their vision for the dream manufactory to the world.

Weinzettl & Rudle - Für Immer ... und andere Irrtümer

"FOR EVER … and other misconceptions"
The new cabaret program by Weinzettl & Rudle

15 years after their wedding, the path to the altar looks, in retrospect, like a stroll for Weinzettl & Rudle, while the further relationship path often resembles a patience game - a puzzle where a piece is always missing, the edges are crumbling, and a mismatched piece is stuck.
But they said: "For ever". What’s agreed is agreed. Only now conditions are attached: When "for ever" suddenly turns into "for ever… but only if you don’t always…”

Be there as Weinzettl & Rudle charmingly, but also in their famously sharp-witted way, point out the weaknesses. It can also be comforting to realize that you are not alone - because one thing is certain: A "for ever" is a dear attempt or a pious wish, but sometimes it’s just a misconception.

Black Star Riders & Tyketto

Rock ‚n‘ Roll Salvation Double Headline Tour 2026 - When two hard rock institutions collaborate, the title says it all: The BLACK STAR RIDERS and TYKETTO will embark on a major European tour in September and October 2026 - loud, passionate, and uncompromising.

BLACK STAR RIDERS emerged in 2012 from the legacy of Thin Lizzy, when Scott Gorham and Ricky Warwick decided to release new material under their own name - in respect for Phil Lynott's legacy. With their debut All Hell Breaks Loose (2013) and acclaimed follow-ups like The Killer Instinct, Heavy Fire, and most recently Wrong Side Of Paradise (2023), the band established itself as a fixture in modern hard rock. Powerful riffs, anthemic choruses, and an energetic live presence made them a crowd favorite at international festivals and headlining tours.

The hard rock veterans TYKETTO are bringing their brand new album Closer To The Sun to this tour.
After releasing their classic debut Don’t Come Easy in 1991 - led by the anthem of a generation, Forever Young - TYKETTO achieved cult status. With a steadily growing army of loyal fans and their explosive live performances, TYKETTO is a band that remains unstoppable.

The Rock 'n‘ Roll Salvation Double Headline Tour 2026 promises an explosive double feature:
British-Irish hard rock meets American melodic power.
A tour for anyone looking to revive the old times in a modern form.

The Marble Hall was once the ballroom of the Prince Archbishop and is now considered one of the most beautiful concert halls in the world. Here, Father Leopold Mozart and his children Wolfgang and Nannerl once made music. Let yourself be enchanted by the soloists and the changing ensembles, who will captivate you with their intense and atmospheric works. Look forward to the different interpretations of the finest chamber music.

Michael Steiger - Grammelpogatscherl Eskalation

With his first cabaret program, “Grammel Pogatscherl Eskalation”, actor and cabaret artist Michael Steiger serves an evening that is as hearty as it is finely seasoned, full of wordplay, situational comedy, and surprising insights. What sounds harmlessly like Austrian pastry culture quickly evolves into a fast-paced journey through the everyday madness of our time.

With a lot of humor, speed, and a fine sense for punchlines, he combines classic cabaret with modern storytelling and physical comedy. “Grammel Pogatscherl Eskalation” is a program about too much and too little, about tradition and trend, about people who want to do everything right - and end up failing spectacularly.

An evening that invites laughter, recognition, and reflection, proving that sometimes a small bite can trigger a big escalation.

Barbara Blaha - Funkenschwestern

Barbara Blaha knows what she is talking about. Growing up as the child of a working-class family with many siblings but little money, she knows the feeling of being overlooked. Her previous stage programs have been an overwhelming success: thousands have already seen her, and every performance was sold out. In her new program Funkenschwestern and the corresponding book, she combines personal stories with numbers, facts, and studies, showing why economic questions are always feminist questions as well. She makes visible why women are less often allowed to lead, are interrupted more frequently, and are paid less. She points out that in industries with a high percentage of women, wages decrease, and even a full-time job does not protect against the second unpaid shift at home.

DIRECTION

STAGE & COSTUMES
Elisabeth Vogetseder

Premiere: September 12, 2026, Hall
Performance dates: until October 30, 2026

Orsino loves Olivia. Olivia has forbidden herself to love anyone due to her grief. Viola has lost everything. Her twin brother Sebastian and her happiness. She becomes Cesario. And Olivia then falls in love with this Cesario. Cesario falls in love with Orsino. And what about Malvolio? Due to his love for Olivia, Sir Andrew Aguecheek, Sir Toby Belch, and the chambermaid Maria hatch a special plan. Everything is turned upside down. Who loves whom? Who is who? And who is like what?

Shakespeare's comedy Was ihr wollt is a wonderful, erotically-sensual exploration of the question of whom we love, whom we want to love, and who we actually are. Was ihr wollt is considered the best romantic comedy of the English master regarding appearance and being, deception and truthfulness.

Jan-Uwe Rogge & Matthias Jung - Kinder sind doch was Schönes, sagen Sie

Cabaret: Jan-Uwe Rogge & Matthias Jung
"Children are indeed something beautiful, you say!"

An adventure trip - from the tantrum phase to the wobbly tooth puberty
You have children? Congratulations! And then everyday life sounds like this: "I can do it myself…!"
"That's unfair!"
"All the others can!"
"Leave me alone!"

Not to mention the media, whether digital or analog. Children don’t want to go to bed, and they never seem to like the food. You would have never thought that you could actually cut a loaf of bread the wrong way. Constantly big words from little chairs. Who can keep their cool when it starts dragging in the morning.

Then there are these endless doubts: How do I set boundaries - am I too strict or too lenient? Is my child ready for school, and if so, for what kind? Am I ready for the island? And if so, who pays for it? Children are gifts… when they actually sleep or are at grandma and grandpa’s!

But don’t worry: Germany's most famous family docs and bestselling authors Jan-Uwe Rogge and Matthias Jung come to the aid of all parents. They provide answers to the questions that concern parents.

Their programs and lectures are a unique blend of expertise and humor, fact-rich and extremely entertaining. Close to the parents! Close to everyday life! Close to our children!

Dirk Stermann - 20 Spritzer bis Amstetten

"Stermann sings" should be the name of his new program, because Stermann sang a few songs in his first award-winning solo program, and since then he sees himself in the tradition of Lady Gaga and Roland Kaiser. However, his agency had "Stermann sinks" printed on the posters, because they believe his singing talent is more reminiscent of the Titanic.

Angrily, the artist travels by train to his first performance. His chosen home Austria passes by his window and his potential audience sits with him in the dining car of the IC Österreich.

And when the ÖBB itself begins to speak, either you have had too many spritzers or you are sitting in Stermann's new program.

Der aufhaltsame Aufstieg des Arturo Ui

At the beginning of the artistic direction of Patricia Nickel-Dönicke, twelve directors of this and the following season will bring to the stage together with the entire ensemble and the newly founded city ensemble "Der aufhaltsame Aufstieg des Arturo Ui". Seventy years after his death, Brecht still influences contemporary forms of theater. Famous worldwide for his alienation effects, as well as for songs, narrative comments, dance, puppetry, and film, the complexity of Brecht's work will be re-examined at the beginning of the season.

And which play is better suited for these times than "Der aufhaltsame Aufstieg des Arturo Ui"? During the rampant economic crisis in Chicago, the small-time crook Arturo Ui enters the milieu of the vegetable dealers. He guarantees the "Cauliflower Trust" through a dubious business model the preservation of their income, thus gaining access to the city council and the broader circles of the Chicago political elite. Once united in shady dealings, the vegetable dealers must watch as Ui gradually establishes the law of the stronger on the streets of Chicago as well as in the political day-to-day business. Driven by his greed for power as well as by his insatiable gangster colleagues, Chicago soon becomes too small for Ui, and he discovers in the profitability of war the ideal export business.

Brecht's historical farce meticulously reconstructs the mechanisms and patterns through which fascist ideologies consume a state and its civil society. At the end of the play, in a historical parallel to the annexation of Austria in 1938, stands the ultimate break with international law. The clearer and more familiar the individual stages on Ui's path appear, the more pressing is the question: Why does the middle of a society stand still and allow these developments to happen? Does it secretly believe it can profit from the rise of a gangster?

All over the world, power-hungry narcissists are becoming politicians like in Brecht's "Arturo Ui", art and press are experiencing attacks on their freedom believed to be overcome, and international manners from the gangster era of the last century are becoming established. Also in Europe, the questions become more urgent about how the rise of anti-democratic forces can still be halted. Therefore, the collective engagement with Brecht's template is also a positioning for togetherness, without which democratic coexistence cannot be resilient.

Lumpazivagabundus - Nestroy im 3/4 -Takt

Lumpazivagabundus – Nestroy im ¾-Takt
The dissolute cloverleaf at the Vienna Metropol

After the great success of “Love Stories and Marriage Matters,” the Vienna Metropol 2026 once again brings a Nestroy classic to the stage as a captivating musical theater production: “Lumpazivagabundus” – newly revived with the lively music of Carl Michael Ziehrer.

Three impoverished craftsmen gain a fortune overnight. But only one of them manages to use the unexpected luck meaningfully from the start. Nestroy's timeless theater hit tells with wit and depth about dealing with happiness, temptation, and new opportunities. Accompanied by Ziehrer's eternal melodies – including the “Schönfeld March” and waltzes like “Wiener Madl’n,” “Wiener Bürger,” and “Hereinspaziert” – a spirited stage pleasure full of humor and charm is created.

Loma Prieta

Loma Prieta are a Punk band from San Francisco. For nearly two decades Loma Prieta have evolved in front of our eyes. With each release, they have elevated the post-punk sub-genre to high art without abandoning the heart at its core. All serving as an artistic reflection for their personal growth amid the complex world that surrounds us all. "Last" was recorded by engineer Jack Shirley at Atomic Garden Studios (Deafheaven, Gouge Away). It is comprised of eleven songs which took shape amid the turbulence the world has collectively faced over the last years. The emotional tension within each is palatable. At times, unfurling contemplatively with delicate melody while at others, exploding with sonic violence. All giving voice to the manic nature of the modern human experience.

Maria Theresia - Das Musical

After the overwhelming success of ROCK ME AMADEUS – DAS FALCO MUSICAL, the Vereinigten Bühnen Wien, a company of Wien Holding, presents another highlight in the upcoming season: Musical director Christian Struppeck and his creative team will bring MARIA THERESIA – DAS MUSICAL to the stage of the Ronacher in October 2025, a brand-new VBW production. This epic work tells the fascinating story and legacy of one of the most influential monarchs of the 18th century – a vivid portrait of power, passion, and historical change.

Epic Drama: powerful music and exciting story

The opulent musical combines monumental drama with modern sound, pulsating beats with compelling lyrics. Timeless history meets contemporary staging, creating an exhilarating stage experience full of energy and surprises. The Vereinigten Bühnen Wien makes a powerful statement with this spectacular production, honoring the legendary ruler – young, dynamic, and absolutely unmistakable.

Intrigue, wars, power games: the first female ruler of the Habsburg monarchy

In a male-dominated world, a young woman rises who is not willing to remain in the shadows. Maria Theresia, a girl who has been passionately interested in political affairs since childhood and is ahead of her time in many ways, defies the patriarchal imperial house and displays impressive strength and grand visions. She fights against all odds and ultimately becomes the first woman at the helm of the state. With unyielding courage, she leads the country through turbulent times.

Ruler, strategist, mother

As the mother of sixteen children, Maria Theresia combines familial care with political acumen and strategic foresight. Unyielding and brave, she confronts the challenges of her time, facing Frederick the Great of Prussia and standing up to the intrigues at court. While wars shake Europe, she modernizes administration and military, revolutionizes education and social policy, and remains steadfast even in times of crisis – a true pathfinder with a visionary spirit.

Maria Theresia’s moving life as a musical

Maria Theresia – a political icon and reformer whose influence shapes Europe to this day. Her groundbreaking achievements extend far beyond Austria and leave a legacy that profoundly shaped history. The fascinating life of a woman who redefined the rules of the game and changed the world – coming this fall as a gripping musical on the stage of the Ronacher!

First-class international creative team

For the world premiere of MARIA THERESIA – DAS MUSICAL, the VBW has assembled a first-class creative team: The legendary composer and music producer Dieter Falk (MOSES - DIE ZEHN GEBOTE, BETHLEHEM, LUTHER, among others, multiple ECHO award winner, 50 platinum and gold records) writes the music and is also responsible for orchestration and arrangements together with his son, the renowned music producer and composer Paul Falk (writes for Helene Fischer, DJ Ötzi, Michelle, Howard Carpendale, etc.). The lyrics are penned by lyricist Jonathan Zelter (writes for Michelle, Tim Peters, Roland Kaiser, Peggy March - multiple top-ten placements in album charts, gold and platinum awards). The book is by Austrian author Thomas Kahry (SPATZ UND ENGEL (Burgtheater + internationally), HOUDINI, AUGUSTIN, HOLLYWOOD IN VIENNA, RAIMUND-THEATER-GALA, etc.). The creative development is overseen by VBW musical director Christian Struppeck (ICH WAR NOCH NIEMALS IN NEW YORK, DER BESUCH DER ALTEN DAME, I AM FROM AUSTRIA, ROCK ME AMADEUS – DAS FALCO MUSICAL, among others).

Directing is by well-known musical specialist Alex Balga (JESUS CHRIST SUPERSTAR, MESSIAH ROCKS, RAIMUND-THEATER-GALA, MIAMI NIGHTS, WE WILL ROCK YOU, DIRTY DANCING, ROCK OF AGES, etc.). The choreography is created by one of the most innovative artists in the field: Jonathan Huor (MAMMA MIA! (Mörbisch), KUDAMM ‘56, ROMEO & JULIA, RAIMUND-THEATER-GALA, THE VOICE, etc.). The set design is by the award-winning West End designer Morgan Large (DISNEY’S NEWSIES (London), SUNSET BOULEVARD (Sydney), SISTER ACT (UK Tour), WICKED (Sao Paulo), etc.), who also develops the video design. The costumes are created by renowned artist Aleksandra Kica (Wiener Volksoper, Theater in der Josefstadt, Salzburger Landestheater, Seefestspiele Mörbisch, etc.). The lighting design is by London star designer Ben Cracknell (PRISCILLA, CHESS, THE ADDAMS FAMILY, JOSEPH, etc.), and the sound is by German sound designer Carsten Kümmel (LUTHER, BETHLEHEM, No Angels, World of Hans Zimmer, Eurovision Song Contest, etc.).

The orchestra of the Vereinigten Bühnen Wien in a large lineup will perform under the musical direction of Carsten Paap.

Good day, my name is Genie.

I have many talents. Hanging spotlights, positioning pulleys, hanging stage backdrops from the ceiling, and much more. I am a lift and you can find me in the JUNGLE VIENNA. Normally, I work behind the scenes, but in this performance, I play the lead role.

A technician is in the middle of preparations for a concert that is about to take place. She has set out to create an explosive light show. On the way there, something unexpected happens. Genie comes to life and does what she wants. The spotlights are also full of mischief, and where does the music even come from?

In GENIE, theater.nuu explores the tension between technical apparatus and its own unique magic. It is a play with the technical possibilities that transform a stage into a magical place through light and music. Last but not least, GENIE is also a love letter to all technicians—the "genies" with their "genies"—without whose great and often invisible work the magic of theater would not be possible. That’s why we bring them in front of the curtain and right into the spotlight for this performance.

Die Ankunft

Four theater texts by Elfriede Jelinek from almost four decades, written between 1988 and 2025. DIE ANKUNFT is a theater marathon at the right time – here, in the land of mountains, land by the river. And now, as the last firewalls in Europe begin to crumble.

1945, the last days of the war: A lavish celebration is held at Schloss Rechnitz in Burgenland. As the highlight, guests shoot approximately 200 Jewish forced laborers. In the 2000s, a right-wing extremist terror cell kills across Germany without interruption. In both cases, the legal proceedings drag on, witnesses remain silent, evidence disappears. And today? The political center falls silent, the right-wing turn is in full swing, ethnic and radical thinking becomes respectable again – and frightening continuities become ever more recognizable.

Elfriede Jelinek distills both contemporary history and immediate present into great literature. RECHNITZ (THE STRANGLER ANGEL) is her central work on Nazi crimes and their legacy, in DAS SCHWEIGENDE MÄDCHEN she addresses the murders of the NSU and the subsequent trials. And in DAS LEBEWOHL – NEIN:

DIE ANKUNFT she escalates the self-assuredly clumsy rhetoric of right-wing rabble-rousers into a breathless hymn of power takeover fantasies and fascist nature poetry. Jan Philipp Gloger, who has been dealing with the works of the Nobel laureate Elfriede Jelinek in productions, including world and premiere performances, for many years, combines four of her plays into a grand edifice of repression and return. An evening about the lines of tradition of nationalist thought and right-wing violence through the centuries – and an evening that traces madness as well as laments forgetfulness and silence. As a prologue serves Jelinek's early work WOLKEN.HEIM. Here, Hölderlin, Hegel, and other classics already speak in a chorus of national pathos – thus preparing the ground for the future.

House of Strauss: Classics of Austria

Leading Classical Concert Vienna

Welcome to the House of Strauss – in the historic Strauss Hall from 1837, where all four members of the Strauss dynasty once performed.

The House of Strauss has been recommended twice by The New York Times in the series "36 Hours in Vienna" and described by a major Austrian daily newspaper as "a daily little New Year's concert."

Your evening begins with a champagne reception and a visit to the House of Strauss Museum. There, before the concert, you will immerse yourself in the world of the Strauss dynasty – in their history, their music, and the time when Vienna became the world capital of the waltz.

The evening is then devoted to music: A live orchestra and a soprano interpret works by Mozart, Beethoven, Schubert, Brahms, and Strauss in the special ambiance of the historic hall. A cinematic narrative accompanies the evening, depicting the rise of the Strauss dynasty; a subtle light design highlights the atmosphere of the room beautifully.

Not an ordinary tourist program, but a true Viennese concert experience at a place that is part of this history.

More than a concert – an evening full of Vienna, music, and history.

Die Wurzel aus Sein

German-language Premiere
Translation by Uli Menke

Talyani Waqar Malik exists in five different versions. His five selves are spread across the world: In Beirut, he is the owner of a jeans store; in Rome, he is a Ferrari-driving neurosurgeon; in Quebec, a successful artist; in Paris, an unambitious taxi driver; and in Texas, a death-row convict. Each place of life, each environment, every experience shapes a new identity, a new character, a new personality.
The trigger of the story is the explosion of 2,750 tons of ammonium nitrate in August 2020, which destroyed the port of Beirut and damaged large parts of the city. The play follows the five Talyanis and their families during the following week and shows how the disaster resonates in their lives.

Almost twenty years after his unforgettable production of BURNING, Stefan Bachmann dedicates himself to Wajdi Mouawad's new play and the question of the possibilities and constraints of our being.

Leopoldstadt

LEOPOLDSTADT is more than a place for Tom Stoppard. It is an echo, a shadow, a whisper through generations. In his last play, the playwright, who passed away in 2025, tells the Jewish history of Vienna from glory to annihilation – not as a museal flashback, but as a very personal, movingly present family story.

We follow the Merz family: affluent, secularized, integrated, like so many who believed in progress around the turn of the century. It is a world in the rhythm of the waltz and assimilation, at the center of a metropolis that considers itself enlightened. And the fate of this family is not an exception, but exemplary of a distressing multitude of stories that met a brutal end with the Shoah. What remains is the remembering.

Stoppard, who only discovered his Jewish roots late in life, weaves personal questions with historical consciousness in LEOPOLDSTADT. What does origin mean when its traces are hardly legible anymore? What to do with a heritage like this? How can one continue to live when one didn't even know about it for so long? And how can theater, without pathos and without false idealization, save the dignity that has been taken from so many?

With precise language, deep humanism, and great narrative elegance, a panorama unfolds that does not merely depict the past but names a responsibility that is more urgent today than ever. LEOPOLDSTADT is a letter against forgetting. And a theater evening about what truly connects family, identity, and history.

Maria und die Fledermaus

A CROSS-SPECIES SINGSPIEL
Direction: Imre Lichtenberger Bozoki

A day like many in the practice of veterinarian Maria: turtle, hedgehog, guinea pig are waiting for her attention. Alongside the practice dog Zuki (from the future), of course. But inexplicable ailments torment the animals, the nervousness rises, un- or healing things are approaching, Zuki can only just maintain order with great difficulty. Is the climate crisis heating up tempers? Is it the alienation between species? Or that strange smell?

When bat Rocky suddenly crashes into the practice during a blackout and announces her bestial uprising fantasies, both mistress and dog know: only operetta can help here. As a means of choice in times of crisis and change, it sweetens the transition – especially for all those who already realize that something must change.

After the hit Horses. A Musical, Johannes Schrettle, Imre Lichtenberger Bozoki, and the ensemble present their new cross-species musical comedy.

A man is under pressure: Franz Woyzeck serves as a simple soldier and also helps his captain privately. Additionally, he has been working for several weeks as a medical test subject and only eats peas, peas, peas. The doctor expects groundbreaking nutritional insights from this. And indeed, Woyzeck's malnutrition takes its toll; he hears voices, becomes increasingly mentally confused, for which the pleased doctor even pays a small fee. Nevertheless, Woyzeck's money is barely enough to support his life with his girlfriend Marie and their child. Ridiculed by the captain, humiliated by the doctor, and soon betrayed by Marie, Woyzeck moves through the world "like an open razor."

The genius poet and politically persecuted activist Georg Büchner created a milestone of social drama shortly before his early death in 1837 with WOYZECK. Based on the court documents of a casual worker and murderer, the play tells the story of the low-income Woyzeck and the process of his mental deterioration. Director Mechthild Harnischmacher engages once again with societal structures that promote violence against women after her production of LIKE LOVERS DO in the darkroom. Driven by the beats of exceptional drummer Katharina Ernst, Mechthild Harnischmacher presents the play as a monologue that permeates the consequential connection between social decline and male loneliness.

Cari Cari - Live 2026

Cari Cari present their current studio album. "One More Trip Around The Sun" is a tribute to aging, a love letter to family and friends, and a promise to stay true to oneself and one's values.

Against the Current
Despite the upcoming world tour and international accolades such as from Rolling Stone, which named Cari Cari "the biggest discovery of Primavera Sound Barcelona," the duo remains completely independent – without a record deal, management, or publisher. Instead, Cari Cari relies on true DIY: album covers, merchandise, and stage design are created by drummer and singer Stephanie Widmer, the music is recorded in their own studio, and even the online shop is a family project run by Stephanie's mother, who ships the orders from the grandparents' garage.

Music with Heart and Soul
Their third studio album is Cari Cari's way of saying "no": No to major label structures and to a system that forgets the people behind the art. The duo consistently advocates for fair pay in the cultural sector. Even the unmistakable sound of Cari Cari is a clear statement against fleeting trends. Characteristically, the use of jaw harp and didgeridoo remains. The unique sound collages are familiar, yet even more complex and precise than ever before. Look forward to this musical "Trip Around the Sun"!

Der kleine Tod - Emily Schmeller

Direction Caroline Richards

Margarete is a psychotherapist and had a difficult childhood herself: when she was eight years old, her mother took her own life. But Margarete has her life well under control – okay, she might masturbate too much and talks to her 'imaginary audience' – but basically everything is fine… Until she suddenly finds the dog of her suicidal client Vera Toth with a farewell message in front of her practice. Where is Vera? Has Margarete (again) failed? And what does she do now with Lucky, the dog? Then Margarete’s sister Lee shows up with the ashes of their deceased mother. Good thing Lee used to be a criminal police officer… With Lee and Lucky by her side, Margarete sets out to search for her client and confronts her own past. Will she find Vera again or is it 'too late' again?

'Der kleine Tod' is a solo theater piece about mental health by Emily Schmeller, based on her series of the same name. With black humor, quirky situational comedy, and lots of dialect, Emily Schmeller plays all the roles. Vivaldi - Vier Jahreszeiten Konzert

The Karlskirche in Vienna - “St. Karl Borromäus” - is considered the most significant sacramental building north of the Alps. It was built at the behest of Emperor Charles VI starting in 1716 after the last major plague pandemic and was completed in 1737. Antonio Vivaldi was buried directly at the Karlskirche in 1741. Until 1918, it was the imperial patronage church. Today, you can experience authentic concerts in the Karlskirche with the orchestra 1756 playing on original instruments and its soloists. Our traditional performances of Vivaldi's "4 Seasons" are now widely known for their high artistic competence and vibrant interpretation.

Mentale Stärke - Michael Aigner

You know the feeling: You have already read books, listened to podcasts, watched videos. You actually know what you should be doing. And yet you keep ending up at the same point. It's not a knowledge problem. It's also not a willpower problem.

Hello, I am Michael Aigner, mental trainer from Leogang. A few years ago, I was on the brink of burnout — overwhelmed at work, the carousel of thoughts spinning all night. I threw myself into mental strength back then. I got trained, hired coaches, learned everything there is to learn about it.

And yet I fell back into the same pattern. Not once. Multiple times.

That was the point at which I understood: Knowledge doesn't automatically move you forward. It was only when I started to really look at my own patterns — not just to understand them, but to break them — that something changed. Sustainably, not just for a few weeks.

In this lecture, I will take you on exactly this journey. You will receive the three steps with which you can step out of the cycle in which you might currently be sabotaging yourself — practical, honest, without empty promises and detours. And for everyone in the room, I've prepared something personal at the end.

If you are ready not just to know more, but to really change something — then you are in the right place.

Sherlock Holmes: Der Fall Moriarty

Translated by Michael Raab

He is the Napoleon of crime!

The King of Bohemia turns to Sherlock Holmes in his greatest need: His secret love affair with the fascinating Miss Adler threatens to become his political downfall. What initially seems like a simple case soon reveals itself as a highly explosive power play, as none other than Professor Moriarty – once Holmes’ mentor and now his bitter enemy – pulls the strings in the background. But not only Moriarty poses a danger: Miss Adler shakes Holmes’ strictly logical world, and for the first time, the reserved master detective seems to develop real feelings. As Watson wrestles with his jealousy and Holmes’ dominant brother unexpectedly intervenes, the situation escalates into a deadly game of love, betrayal, and crime.

Ken Ludwig, who has already successfully adapted Agatha Christie's Murder on the Orient Express for the stage, now turns to another legendary figure of English crime literature: “In my play, it’s primarily about the deep friendship between Sherlock Holmes and Dr. Watson. It forms the core of the myth that Conan Doyle created. The Case of Moriarty is my attempt to give us all a fresh opportunity to experience the comedic fun and melodramatic pyrotechnics of the Holmes universe.”

After his highly successful production of The Great Dictator, Dominic Oley – again with a small, extremely versatile cast – will bring this gripping Sherlock Holmes adventure to the stage of the Kammerspiele.

Romeo und Julia

“Romeo und Julia” is perhaps the most famous love story in the world. For good reason, the tragedy by William Shakespeare is considered the benchmark for countless love stories. Two young people from traditionally feuding families meet – no one knows what ignited the hatred between the two parties anymore. They escape into love and discover it at first sight for each other. But their unconditional devotion has been forbidden from the very beginning.

In his adaptation, Swiss author Lucien Haug remains in Shakespearean meter and creates a contemporary version of a young, naive, and exuberant love in a world distorted by enmity and hatred. The two lovers Romeo and Julia set out to prove a limitless love that ignites because of and despite its impossibility. The romantic concept of love becomes explosive against the hardened enmity of the parental generation, for which it is worth it for the young lovers to even die.

Director Stefan Pucher, frequently invited to the Berlin Theatertreffen, is known for his sensual and playful Shakespeare productions. For the theater in Josefstadt, he dedicates himself to “Romeo und Julia” for the first time, bringing Shakespeare's radical ideal of love, which the two young people live, to the stage.

Thomas Mraz - Mraz F1rst!

"Now it's about the person who is closest to me: Me! Me! Me!

That's how it's demonstrated to us, in politics, on social media, and in the kindergarten WhatsApp group. We live in a society full of winners, where everyone wants to be first, yes, must be first. Whoever comes in second has already lost, has been left behind, has fallen by the wayside.

These forces also affect Thomas Mraz, and therefore it now applies to him:
MRAZ FIRST!

However, he has rarely - very rarely - actually never - been first at anything.

It's high time that Mraz, in his first solo program, confronts his big questions: Is he aiming for the chairmanship in the community garden association? Is he opening his sausage stand, just like he remembers it from the past? Is he old enough to apply for corridor pension? Is he a well-traveled cosmopolitan or a prole from Favoriten? Or maybe both? And most importantly: Is he really such an egoist, like everyone else?"
