B o o k e r (calming down and massaging the spot between his eyebrows with his thumb, index, and middle fingers). Look, I understand all the artistic development stuff and that you want to bring your, let's say, "more melancholic" songs to the stage. I know that it's important to you to balance "funny and serious," and I've already told you that I think you handle it brilliantly: your fans love the sensitive side of their funny Angel. And your new album, coming out in the fall, is amazing and the culmination of this evolution, best of both worlds really. But "songs that are funny and sometimes a bit sad, but that's okay"... (pauses.) Are you still there?
A n g e l. Yeah, sure. I just don't know what to say. I think the title is great.
B o o k e r. (sighs.) It's too long. Too unwieldy. The organizers will dismiss it outright. And besides, it'll just be shortened to "songs that..." or something in every newspaper. The columns in the event calendars are too narrow for such a titl…
A n g e l (angrily). Hey dude! You're always in my ear every other day to make TikTok videos and all that social media crap, and now you're worried about column width in newspapers. What about the digital age?
B o o k e r. (angrily). It's too long even for the digital age. Especially for that! (snorts.) Try fitting that crap into a Reel. It'll take ten seconds just for that, and if you don't grap the audience in the first three sec…
A n g e l (angered, shouting in a rage and gesticulating wildly). I write songs for people who have time, not playlist-compatible sound bites for vertical video stills! Same goes for the stage! I perform for an audience, not an algorithm! For people who are curious about me and my art, my songs, and their stories. For people who want to engage and take the time for it.
B o o k e r (sarcastically angrily). Great! Then you've found the perfect program title. Because that one will surely take a lot of time. (rolls his eyes.)

Die Strottern - Oh, des is guat

Music from the World – from Vienna
Buenos Aires has the Tango, Lisbon the Fado, Paris the Chansons. Vienna has the Wienerlied – an unmistakable expression of the city’s way of life. And the Wienerlied lives on! Die Strottern are not entirely innocent in this: For over 20 years, Klemens Lendl and David Müller have been dusting off the Wienerlied musically and thematically so thoroughly that from a local song tradition, a music emerges that is understood all over the world. Awards like the German World Music Prize RUTH or the AMADEUS Austrian Music Award testify to this.

About the Music
The Wienerlied originated in a melting pot of nations. This makes it rich in musical influences: folk music, theater songs, French waltzes, the music of the Balkans. Die Strottern incorporate contemporary musical languages such as jazz, pop, and world music alongside the Viennese tradition. Naturally, the waltz, the heartbeat of the city, forms the foundation of most Strottern songs. Sometimes elegantly dancing in 3/4 time, then drunkenly staggering again, Die Strottern aim their catchy melodies straight into the heart of the audience, always treading the razor-sharp line between deeply felt art and maudlin ballads. Then there's a rough dadaistic free jazz outburst, and the musical mishmash is stirred up, making Die Strottern at home beyond all genre boundaries and styles. And so they perform on stages of all kinds: from classical festivals to cabaret cellars to world music stages and jazz clubs.

The Name
The old Viennese term "Strotter" stands for "rogue, vagabond, petty thief, someone looking for incidental earnings." The Viennese dialect dictionary also states: "Those who search for something useful." And that is what Die Strottern do in the more or less rich vault of Vienna's song treasure. And if they find nothing, they simply sing their own songs.

Antonia Stabinger - Angenehm

Antonia Stabinger has already caused a stir in contemporary cabaret with her cabaret duo with Ulrike Haidinger, "Flüsterzweieck". The duo has won several awards and is currently on tour in Austria, Germany, and Switzerland with their fifth full-length program. Since 2022, Antonia Stabinger has been touring solo with her feminist character in the Vulva costume "Clit/Doris", providing enlightenment - with humor and no holds barred.

As an author, Stabinger has worked on ORF series, written radio plays for Radio FM4, and hosted the FM4 podcast "Antonia redet mit" where she interviews individuals in extraordinary professions who are not usually in the spotlight. She has also appeared on various ORF television formats ("What's New?", "We Staatskünstler", "Current Tagespresse", "Enough of Funny", among others). Since autumn 2022, Stabinger has hosted a daily noon show ("Die Passt Show") on Radio FM4, for which she has been writing and speaking the weekly, current political satire column "Die Zudeckerin" since 2015.

In the Mühlviertel they say it takes three things to become an adult man: one must conceive a child, build a house, and plant a tree. Benedikt Mitmannsgruber is not a man like any other. He is thin, weak, has a mustache, wears an old Norwegian sweater, and is a classic anti-hero, a sensitive loser type. Instead of building a house and becoming a father, he sits in a sparsely furnished back room in a bleak city with a cup of St. John's Wort tea and writes funny stories.
At some point, his family realizes that he doesn't age. While his friends grow older, take on responsibilities, buy cars, conceive children, and work, Mitmannsgruber is stuck in time. He wants to remain in his mid-20s forever. He keeps postponing adulthood until it becomes unattainable and out of reach. And then he packs his things. Without a goal in sight, he travels through the stages of Austria and Germany. He appears on television, wins awards, and receives anonymously sent underwear.
Can art save the disoriented ne'er-do-well? Can the disoriented ne'er-do-well possibly save art? "The strange case of Benedikt Mitmannsgruber" is the grand fate of a young anti-hero and the people he encounters in his life: he finds love, meets conspiracy theorists, gets disappointed, has to isolate and learns what is of timeless significance: his dog, his girlfriend, and avocado spread.

When the world was still a disc, everything else was futuristic. A strike on the skin of a prehistoric drum, for example. However, this drum was not initially a musical instrument in today's sense, but rather more of a telephone.
One could say that Morse codes were the first rhythms of humanity. Played in a loop, these codes were able to put our ancestors in a trance. The first raves were born. Pretty hard techno, because the melody had not yet been invented.
Music is always and everywhere, so let's look for it where we least expect it. Even from the howling of a fire engine siren on a Saturday afternoon, a melody can be conjured up. Would that then be a World Disc? Probably not, but it's definitely worth a try.

With "spark striking linguistic art" (AZ) and underlying, light-footed comedy, he mainly tells of things at which he fails: making decisions. Impressing girls around the campfire. Abolishing capitalism. To do this, he manages to extract unheard facets from the concept "guy with guitar and piano." Musically skilled, he plays with genre traditions and casually jumps between styles and moods: from Beatlesque pop to a resolutely marching protest anthem, from a comically creepy stalker ballad to a "Reinhard Mey parody to kneel for" (Mannheimer Morgen).

In the meantime, this has already brought him several small art awards, such as the jury prize of the Prix Pantheon, the Stuttgart Besen, and the Tuttlingen Crow. Of course, he knows that such awards do not necessarily say anything about quality. But when he wins them himself, he can astonishingly overlook that.

Simon Stäblein - Ich schmeiß mich weg!

Simon, who is referred to in the press as the meanest comedian in the country, sees himself more as the most realistic comedian. In his third solo program, he humorously examines life and all its ups and downs. He talks about his own failures, quirks, and peculiarities, but also about his strategies for turning everyday annoyances and frustrations into something entertaining.

His program touches on topics such as insurmountable differences in marriage, language barriers at mediation weekends, and the absolute despair on his own construction site. Simon is known for being honest and not shying away from addressing uncomfortable topics and distributing them in all directions.

At the end of the show, when you are still in tears from laughing, Simon reminds you to pay attention to waste separation because after all, you are still in Germany.
