Michael Altinger - Die Letzte Tasse Testosteron
We have mastered the story brilliantly. And we toast to that, with non-alcoholic Augustiner at yoga, baking our own sourdough bread after ice bathing, and almost convincingly promising our wives that their future will be a fairer one. Even with us.
Just as we have found the right mindset for ourselves in Downward Dog, a global situation arises that cries out for yesterday: for low-riding combustion engines, for ice-cold impostors, for big pants and thin brains, and for old truths in new media.
Who is supposed to protect us from this? Perhaps ourselves? How is that supposed to work? Before we scream for new protectors, we should strive for something else: for a hormone.
Testosterone is the cause but also the solution! There isn't much of it left. Altinger has it. In a cup. The last one.
Can a man still be a rascal in his mid-50s? Michael Altinger can. For over 30 years he has been on stage and has preserved a mischievous mischief like no other, which has long become his trademark. As a master of everyday observation, Michael Altinger relies on his tireless curiosity: He marvels at people. He marvels at what people do, what they say – and how they say it. And often he finds it hard to stop marveling.
Astonished, the rascal in the prime of life stumbles on stage through his equally absurd and entertaining socio-critical reflections. That the raised forefinger is not his friend – that self-irony is, however, even more so – has brought him numerous fans far beyond the Bavarian state borders. The same applies to his stage presence: a true showman, for the energetic hothead, only one thing matters: It has to rock! Always right at the front edge of the stage, Altinger talks, plays, and musically engages himself to the limit, constantly exploring his own mental and physical boundaries.
As passionate as his performance on stage is, the red thread that Michael Altinger weaves elegantly into his programs is fine: His stories unfold over the course of the evening just as much as his stage characters, taking surprising detours and relentlessly steering toward a dramatic climax. But music also plays an important role: Together with the full-blooded guitarist Andreas Rother, Michael Altinger fires a fat sound into the audience that matches his stage presence in terms of natural force.
Awarded the Passauer Scharfrichterbeil or the Bavarian Cabaret Prize, known from his own TV shows 'Schlachthof', 'Altinger mittendrin', or 'Die Komiker' as well as guest appearances in 'Die Anstalt', 'Nuhr im Ersten', or 'SWR Spätschicht', Michael Altinger has been among the first rank of German cabaret for many years. That he also writes books, acts in theater, and has been a member of the ensembles of the Münchner Lach- und Schießgesellschaft as well as the Lustspielhaus – these are just a few more facets from the extensive oeuvre of the industrious jack-of-all-trades, who is always good for an entertaining surprise. A rascal indeed.
