The artist invites the audience on a journey into her musical past with her extraordinary voice and incomparable style and charisma, showcasing an exciting facet of her art: her versatility. With timeless hits from, among others, Earth Wind & Fire, Donna Summer, Diana Ross, Chaka Khan, Al Jarreau, and Barry Manilow, to which each viewer receives a story, she touches all hearts and fills the stage with her unique magic.
Experience interpretations of songs that became soundtracks to all our lives - from powerful ballads to stirring dance numbers. But that's not all! Maya Hakvoort also takes us into the world of jazz, the genre that has significantly shaped her musical development. With her passion for jazz and its richness of colors, she creates an atmosphere full of sophistication and elegance.
Maya Hakvoort will be accompanied on piano by Martin Wöss and Herbert "Herb" Berger on saxophone, who bring the melodies to life with their virtuosic playing and perfectly complement the intimate setting of the evening.
Maya Hakvoort, a native Dutchwoman, was trained at the Maastricht Conservatory at the Kleinkunst Academy and Drama School "De Trap" in Amsterdam. In Austria, she celebrated her breakthrough in 1994 as "Elisabeth" in the eponymous musical, which she performed over 1000 times in Vienna, Trieste, Osaka, Tokyo, and in front of Schönbrunn Palace in Vienna.
She has embodied numerous leading roles in productions such as Chicago, Les Misérables, Gaudí, Catharine, Blutsbrüder, Aspects of Love, The Three Musketeers, Jekyll & Hyde, Evita, High Society, Kiss Me, Kate, Victor/Victoria, Rebecca, Love Never Dies, Sunset Boulevard, Cats, Next to Normal, Don Camillo & Peppone, Little Me, Carrie, Heidi, Anatevka, Into the Woods, Cabaret, and in 2024 in Sunset Boulevard at the Landestheater in Innsbruck.
Maya Hakvoort has been awarded the Golden Merit Badge of the Republic of Austria, the Great Honorary Award for Services to the State of Lower Austria, and the Golden Rathausmann of the City of Vienna. She also received the Austrian Musical Theatre Award 2023 for "Best Musical Performance."
