Der Nussknacker ist das letzte und erfolgreichste Werk des Komponisten Peter Tschaikowsky.
Die Handlung des Balletts basiert auf der phantastischen Erzählung des deutschen Romantikers E.T.A. Hoffmann "Nussknacker und Mäusekönig".
Die Geschichte eines jungen Mädchens, das einen Nussknacker geschenkt bekommt und davon träumt, dass er sich in einen Märchenprinzen verwandelt, fasziniert Jung und Alt rund um die Welt. Für ein paar Stunden wird man aus dem Alltag in die romantische und fantasievolle Welt der Träume und Sehnsüchte entführt.
Als sich am Weihnachtsabend die Gäste verabschiedet haben, geht Klara noch einmal zu ihren Geschenken. Dort schläft sie ein. Um Mitternacht werden Nussknacker und Puppen lebendig und Klara ist auf einmal mittendrin in einer Zauberwelt.
Schneeflocken und tanzende Blumen begleiten das Mädchen auf der Reise ins Reich der schönen Zuckerfee. Ein zauberhaftes Weihnachtsmärchen, das bei jeder Aufführung kleine und große Ballettfans begeistert.
Die Uraufführung des Balletts "Der Nussknacker" fand im Mariinsky Theater in St. Petersburg im Dezember 1892 statt.

The story of a young girl who receives a nutcracker as a gift and dreams of him transforming into a fairy-tale prince captivates young and old around the world. For a few hours, one is transported from everyday life into the romantic and imaginative world of dreams and longings.
When the guests have said their goodbyes on Christmas Eve, Clara goes back to her gifts. There she falls asleep. At midnight, the nutcracker and dolls come to life and Clara suddenly finds herself in a magical world.
Snowflakes and dancing flowers accompany the girl on her journey to the realm of the beautiful Sugar Fairy. A enchanting Christmas fairy tale that delights both small and large ballet fans at every performance.
The world premiere of the ballet "The Nutcracker" took place at the Mariinsky Theatre in St. Petersburg in December 1892.
