Wiener Blond - Kultur.Sommer.Semmering
Verena Doublier and Sebastian Radon have been singing, beatboxing, composing, and intriguing their way through their everyday lives and into the hearts of their audience for over ten years. In addition to their phenomenal live performances, their surprising lyrics have become their trademark, as well as their musical versatility.
The duo started in 2012 as a beatbox-groove duo with songs about riding the subway, drinking spritzer, and cooking scrambled eggs - armed only with a loop station and two microphones. In 2015, their debut album "Der Letzte Kaiser" was released, which made waves beyond the borders of Vienna and Austria.
The successor "ZWA" was already presented in 2016 at the Vienna Musikverein, where for the first time, the stage was shared not only with the loop station but also with the seven-member international ensemble of the "Original Wiener Salon Ensemble".
The collaboration proved to be fruitful: After several concerts and a tour throughout Austria, their joint live album "endlich salonfähig!" was released in 2019. The following year, it was even nominated for the Amadeus Music Award in the category of "Jazz/World/Blues".
The melodies and string sounds of this refined era make room for more grooves, loops, and electronics on the current album "Bis in der Früh" from the year 2020. The common thread through each musical phase of the band is always the Viennese tone, which the two celebrate humorously and charmingly.
During the current tour through Austria, Germany, South Tyrol, and Switzerland, Wiener Blond are performing as a duo again after many performances with the band and in a 7-member lineup. The program includes classics from the band's history as well as entirely new, unreleased songs.
