Der eingebildete Kranke - "Das Musical von Stanek & Brand
AUSTRIAN PREMIERE
"Being sick, just being sick, is the best thing there is!"
The setting is the "Kurhotel St. Moritz" on Wiener Flötzersteig:
The well-to-do Axel, a professional hypochondriac, is staying here. The clinic director Prof. Henkelmann takes the opportunity to exploit his wealthy patient in every way possible.
Angelika, Axel's daughter, is to marry Harald, a medical student and son of Prof. Henkelmann, so that Axel has a doctor by his side for life. However, she has fallen in love with Clemens, who follows her everywhere and is currently also staying at the hotel.
Toni, the witty caregiver of Axel, wants to support Angelika. She helps Axel fake his own death to find out who truly loves him. Axel thus recognizes the true love of his daughter and the greed of his second wife Melitta. Angelika may now marry, but only on the condition that a doctor enters the family. Since Clemens is not suitable for this, a ceremony is quickly staged that makes Axel believe he himself will be trained as a doctor in a flash process. Axel considers the staged admission ritual to be real and swears the Hippocratic oath.
