Premiere: FALCO MEETS AMADEUS
"The Commissioner" is back! After hundreds of performances, countless sold-out shows, and over half a million enthusiastic visitors, the creators of "FALCO – The Musical" are now taking on tour the latest masterpiece from the creative team led by lead actor Alexander Kerbst, bringing the myth to life once again: "FALCO MEETS AMADEUS" tells as vividly and eccentrically the story of two absolute exceptional phenomena in music history, combining all the great Falco hits live with the exciting tale of the legendary Viennese. This sensational new stage show provides a deep insight into the thoughts and emotional world of the artist and the person behind the glittering pop icon, while honoring the magnificent life’s work of "The Falcon". On January 7, 2026, "FALCO MEETS AMADEUS" will celebrate its world premiere in Mozart's birthplace, Salzburg, and will then embark on a major premiere tour through Germany, Austria, Switzerland, and Italy.
"I am only immortal when I am dead!" This dark, prophetic quote surrounds the new homage to the greatest genius of German-speaking pop and rap history. "FALCO MEETS AMADEUS" is a gripping and deeply moving musical journey through the significant stages in the life of the distinctive musician – a man who tasted life to its limits and went through many highs and lows, leading to self-destruction.
Over 60 million records sold, an almost limitless number of sold-out concerts worldwide, and to this day the only German-language song at the top of the American charts made Falco the most internationally successful Austrian musician of all time alongside Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart. In his No. 1 song "Rock Me Amadeus," he sings about Mozart's popularity, debts, and his relationships with women – parallels that can also be attributed to Falco himself alongside his "rock idol." The song, of course, cannot be missed in the new version of "FALCO MEETS AMADEUS." In addition to "Rock Me Amadeus" and its origins, there are many other similarities between the two music geniuses: Both were far ahead of their time, created their own unique musical style, and shaped the music of their time like no one else; two complex and controversial characters caught between genius and madness, and two excessively led lives that each came to an end far too early. Falco died at the age of 40 in a car accident in the Dominican Republic, while Mozart died at the young age of 35 from a severe fever. Both primarily lived in Vienna and were also laid to rest there. In the hearts of their fans, they live on forever and their musical legacy ultimately made them immortal.
The song selection in this spectacular show experience includes all the great Falco hits like "The Commissioner," "Vienna Calling," "Jeanny," or "Out of the Dark," as well as early successes like "Ganz Wien," impressive titles like "Emotional" or "Coming Home," some unjustly forgotten songs, and the currently relevant song "Europa." The homage brings the "Falcon" back to the stage and presents all songs live with a five-member band and outstanding performers. Flashy and extravagant performances from the dance ensemble breathe new life into the songs and wonderfully round off the stage spectacle.
Insider Knowledge and Long-standing Experience as a Quality Promise
For the authentic implementation, the creative team is supported by Falco's former bandleader Thomas Rabitsch as musical director and Falco's former manager and friend Horst Bork as an advisor, both of whom were also involved in "FALCO - The Musical." With this insider knowledge and expertise from the last Falco show, the audience's success is already pre-programmed with "FALCO MEETS AMADEUS." "How much Falco can still move and excite people today is impressive," emphasizes lead actor Alexander Kerbst, who portrays the eccentric musician in the show alongside Stefan Wessel. For him, it is clear: "If an artist can still reach the children and grandchildren of his fans years after his death, then he is truly immortal."
On the Controversial Exceptional Artist and His Music
"That was Falco, now we're playing proper music." The well-known comment from the radio station Ö3 about a Falco title impressively shows how controversial the artist was during his lifetime. The well-known musical producer Oliver Forster emphasizes: "The many reports and interviews, the numerous feedback from audiences, and not least the consistently high demand for a revival demonstrate how firmly Falco is still anchored in the minds and hearts of music fans. For us, this is, of course, a stroke of luck because such a venture as our previous Falco production and now the adaptation to 'FALCO MEETS AMADEUS' only works with true, timeless legends." Just recently, Falco's hit album "Falco 3," 40 years after its original success, landed back at the top of the album charts in Austria, proving how present Falco still is in today's music landscape.
Successful Concept of Musical Biographies Reinterpreted as "Biographical"
The successful producer and promoter from Passau, Oliver Forster (COFO Entertainment), has already shown a good sense for the audience's taste as a tour organizer for musical biographies like "ELVIS – The Musical," "all you need is love! – The Beatles Musical," or "Simply The Best – The Tina Turner Story." COFO has also filled numerous theaters in the German-speaking area with self-produced shows about world stars like Michael Jackson ("BEAT IT!") or Frank Sinatra ("That’s Life") in recent years. This success story will now continue with "FALCO MEETS AMADEUS."
