"How many of the young pianists in the world can measure up to the greatest virtuoso swinging jazz pianists - Oscar Peterson, Monty Alexander, Gene Harris, Phineas Newborn? Not many. How many of them are women? Very, very few. How many of them are Italian? Probably none. It's unbelievable, but true, that such a person exists, and her name is Francesca Tandoi. She is a brilliant, outstanding, and very rare talent." — Massimo Tarabelli

Francesca Tandoi
The Italian jazz pianist and singer Francesca Tandoi is celebrated by critics and industry colleagues as an emerging jazz star and one of the most exciting young talents in the international jazz scene.
In just a few years, she has earned international acclaim as a world-class pianist and singer. She has performed with some of the best international jazz musicians and at some of the most prestigious theaters, jazz festivals, and clubs around the world, such as the North Sea Jazz Festival, Umbria Jazz, Cork Jazz, Bosendorfer Gala, Breda Jazz Festival, Amsterdam Arena Stadium, Piano City Madrid, Sumatra Jazz Festival, Tokyo Hakuju Concert Hall, Moscow Gorkiy Park Summer Festival, Tver Philharmonic Hall, Stara Zagora Jazz Festival, and many others in the USA, Japan, Indonesia, India, South Africa, Russia, and all over Europe.
The performances of the Tandoi Trio have been enthusiastically received by audiences and the press. Her stage presence is consistently praised as an explosion of swing, strong and sophisticated.
South African jazz journalist David Alston said: “She has a flawless technique and the ability to swing like the clappers. The audience is simply knocked out by her playing.”
“Francesca Tandoi has truly impressive piano skills,” raved the Dutch magazine JazzFlits. “She virtually flies over the keyboard. And she is blessed with a beautiful singing voice full of warmth and sensuality.”
Jazz journalist Massimo Tarabelli (Ancona Jazz, IT) referred to her ballad singing as “exemplary, truly unforgettable” and ranks her among the greats: “How many of the young pianists in the world can measure up to the greatest virtuoso swinging jazz pianists – Oscar Peterson, Monty Alexander, Gene Harris, Phineas Newborn? Not many. How many of them are women? Very, very few. How many of them are Italian? Probably none. It's unbelievable, but true, that such a person exists, and her name is Francesca Tandoi. She is a brilliant, outstanding, and very rare talent.”
The renowned pianist Monty Alexander was absolutely enchanted by her debut album. Alexander said: “Francesca Tandoi is an extremely tasteful, swinging pianist. Her singing is exquisite, her compositions are melodic and memorable, and her arrangements are extremely thoughtful.”
She can be heard on more than 20 recordings as a sideman (four of them with the legendary American saxophonist Scott Hamilton), but the piano trio is definitely her preferred lineup. As the leader of her trio, she has recorded six albums, "For Elvira", "Something blue", "Magic Three", "Wind dance" (this album was in the TOP10 best albums of 2016 by the Japanese magazine "Jazz Life"), "When in Rome", and "Hope".
