Summer Theater Traun: Crime World Success from July in the Spinnery
Alexander Knaipp and Katharina Bigus are launching the fifth production of their Trauner Theater Association – “Kultur im Park” in the summer of 2025. With Agatha Christie’s “Die Mausefalle,” they bring the world’s most successful crime play to the Traun stage, featuring a top cast, intricate set design, humor, and the distinct flair for which Agatha Christie is famous. Investigations begin on July 17 – a theatrical experience not just for amateur Miss Marples and leisure Poirots!
A summer full of puzzles and thrills
“Die Mausefalle” by Agatha Christie (the cult crime thriller of British theater) promises to be an unforgettable theatrical experience for crime fans and theater lovers alike. From July 17 to August 14, the play will be performed 11 times, immersing the audience in the captivating world of mystery and suspense.
The crime classic has broken all records in theater history. It has been continuously performed in London’s West End since 1952 – in nearly 30,000 performances. “The cleverest crime play of British theater,” wrote the Daily Telegraph.
Knaipp and Bigus aim to captivate with suspense, clever puzzle fun, unexpected twists, and the necessary touch of humor. “Agatha Christie has an incredible talent for crafting complex and gripping plots that keep her audience on the edge of their seats until the very end, as could not be more evident in ‘Die Mausefalle’,” Knaipp notes.
“The quirky, sometimes exaggerated, but always charming characters make watching a real pleasure,” says Bigus, adding: “And when presented humorously, it gives the stories the pleasant lightness that summer theater should embody.”
Applications from around the world
The casting process lasted several months, with applications from around the globe, making the selection even more exciting. Even one from Panama. “This shows how great the interest in our summer theater is and how much actors want to perform on the Traun stage,” Knaipp is pleased to share.
Brigitte Brunner, head of the Kulturpark Traun and cooperation partner of the production, is very pleased with the top cast, which includes some familiar faces. Brunner, also a self-proclaimed crime fan, states: “It’s a piece that is ideal as summer entertainment theater for the large Spinnery stage with all its technical refinements. - A timeless crime delight for young and old!”
