Founded in 2006! – Band members are: lead singer Hans Irker, who impresses with sensational stage presence, voice, and remarkable resemblance to Mick JAGGER, bassist Mihael Gluhak, Christoph Nöbauer on saxophone, guitarists Nik Atanassov, Wayne Deleon, Martin Kohlmann, and Mike Linder on drums.
The response from the audience, press, and organizers confirms that the Stonez are among the leading tribute bands in Europe.
THE STONEZ sound like the ROLLING STONES, but they do not copy; rather, they reinterpret with much respect!
"No Elvis, Beatles or Rolling Stones," THE CLASH claimed in the song "1977," even though Joe Strummer had played "Out Of Time" with his previous band THE 101ERS – and not badly at all!
Later, THE CLASH opened for THE WHO in 1982 at New York's Shea Stadium, where Mick Jagger paid a backstage visit. The "young pretenders" of punk are thus absolutely compatible with the "reigning champions" of the old rock guard!
A year earlier, negotiations with the STONES had failed because THE CLASH insisted on announcing the concerts in the same way – as a duel between the young challengers and the reigning titleholders – a concept inspired by Jamaican DJ culture.
In March 2025, at ((szene)) Vienna in Vienna-Simmering, there will finally be a summit meeting where two bands, with heart and expertise, dedicate one evening to the song catalogs of two of the greatest bands ever, the ROLLING STONES and the CLASH!
THE CLASHINSTAS originated when, on August 21, 2012, high-profile tributes were held worldwide for Joe Strummer's 60th birthday. In Austria:
No such thing! Rainer Krispel (vocals) pointed this out, stating that this needed to change and that he, as a lifelong CLASH and STRUMMER fan, would love to do it. In a matter of moments – social media is good for something after all! – Franz Reisecker (guitar, vocals) and Lelo Brossmann (guitar, vocals) responded, and THE CLASHINISTAS were born!
Later, the lineup consolidated with bassist Lars Bulnheim (bass) and Wolfgang "Candy" Kanduth (drums, vocals). A dream team connected by friendship, which can achieve a lot together with THE CLASH, uniting in the protagonists centuries (!) of experience in the punk/indie/alternative scene, in and with bands like 7 SIOUX, POST, THE INCREDIBLE STAGGERS, KAHLENBERG, OCCIDENTAL BLUE HARMONY LOVERS, TRIO EXKLUSIV, DESTROYED BUT NOT DEFEATED, KREISKY, SUPERPUNK …
