Florian Boesch, one of the most important bass baritones in the world, and the legendary East Tyrolean Musicbanda Franui have come together for a reinterpretation of the song cycle by Franz Schubert. Florian Boesch, who was nominated for a Grammy Award for his recording of "Die schöne Müllerin," will be accompanied in this version by the instrumentation of the Musicbanda, ranging from tuba to dulcimer to accordion and harp.
Franui has been playing together in the same lineup for 30 years and has conquered the music world with their incomparable sound from Innervillgraten. Like Florian Boesch, they have performed at the Bregenz Festival, the Ruhrtriennale, and the Salzburg Festival, among others. Together, they create a completely innovative interpretation of the song cycle, giving the emotions of the traveling journeyman new dimensions and depth.

Opera superstar Asmik Grigorian, usually admired in leading roles at the Salzburg Festival, the Vienna State Opera, the Bayreuth Festival, the New York Metropolitan Opera, or La Scala in Milan, brings a very personal and grand show to Klagenfurt together with pianist Hyung-Ki Joo. She stages herself and her career, the highs and lows of a world career, and her inevitable path to singing, which has been shaped by great role models, harsh criticism, and tormenting self-doubt.

With pieces by Ravel, Messiaen, Bizet, and Puccini to songs by Lennon/McCartney and Lady Gaga, the 44-year-old diva with a flair for imaginative outfits shares stories from her life. Accompanied by pianist Hyung-Ki Joo, who acts as the musical "advocatus diaboli" in this slightly different comedy show, the star of the opera stage – humorously, but with honesty and great depth – provides insight into the life of a diva.

The universe of sounds seems boundless and seductively unattainable. The twenty-five years dedicated to the resonant music from and at Lake Wörther confirm that it is always possible.

The program of the 25th WoertherSee Classics Festival shines through the diversity of musical heritage and is dedicated to the celebrations of the 25th anniversary.

At the very beginning, we are honored by the Festival Orchestra Capella Mahleriana, under the sovereign direction of Toshiyuki Shimada, with the 3rd Symphony by Robert Schumann and the Piano Concerto by Edvard Grieg, enriched by the musical maturity of soloist Alexei Kornienko.

The musical journey further leads us to an evening of dialogue between Elena Denisova and the principal soloist Darko Brlek with the Clarinet and Violin Concerto by Carl Stamitz, and in the second part, with the Double Concerto by Johannes Brahms. Eldar Saparaev, known for his powerful tone production, takes on the cello part. At the podium is Alexander Sladkovsky, who already won over the Carinthian audience in 2013.

The third evening is dedicated to the feelings of the great master of vocal lyricism. 46 Italian love poems, set to music by Hugo Wolf, are included in the program as the "Italian Songbook." Eva Zalenga, soprano, Tobias Lusser, baritone, and pianist Maximilian Kromer, who has already harvested a tremendous success within the festival, form a harmonious trio in honor of the Wörthersee composer. On the fourth day of the event, the Keller Quartet dedicates themselves to Franz Schubert's "Death and the Maiden" and Robert Schumann's Quintet, united with Alexei Kornienko at the piano.

Dr. Wilhelm Sinkovicz will guide us through his unforgettable moderation of the musical performances on stage.

The early summer Carinthian natural landscape, the unique lake, and the unforgettable music intertwine harmoniously into a total work of art.
